![]() ![]() So IMHO interceptors 'brigaded' to ground attack should be able to do more damage and survive better than fighters, but be worse in air to air combat, and maybe shorter range. And in air to air combat interceptors had different attributes to fighters. Whereas (from what little I know) fighters were never in quite the same league when it came to ground attack (with the exception of the Mustang, which was an exceptional aircraft that does not fit neatly into any of the HoI categories) - fighters (even the Mustang) being even more vulnerable to ground fire than the converted interceptors were, while delivering less 'punch'. In RL Hurricanes became the Hurribomber, Typhoons became a totally devasting ground attack plane, also simillary for versions of the ME109 and the FW190. I'm thinking you should still keep the interceptor as well as the fighter : Bomber doctrines stary much the same for tacs and strats the cas doctrines would require modification to represent the new splt of CAS between dive bombers and fighter-bombers. Effects on escort fighter night combat modifiers are removed. Reduced Surface Defence.įighter doctrines don't change a huge amount. Only one model, made available through doctrine research Pathfinder or Night Bomberss: Higher Night combat efficiency. Higher Air Defence, slighlty higher Air Attack. Fighters with Fighter-Bomber brigades effectively replace CAS model 3 onwards.Įscort Fighters: Capped Range. Somewhat increased rangeįighter-bomber: Higher Soft Attack and Hard Attack. Bonus: Night defence (significantly) and night attack (moderately) Night Fighter: Tech prerequisite - radars. Possibly higher Morale?Īir Superiority: Slightly higher air attack Possibly higher Morale? The prerequisite for each type of brigade would mainly be the 'main fighter' model. The brigades would have similar IC cost to the base air unit but considerably reduced build time.Įach would be available at basic, improved, advanced etc levels. ![]() The main differences would be in a much larger range of brigades for air units. And that model upgrades to the existing Advanced Tactical Bomber. Dive Bomber which branches after Interwar Bomber (so is on a par with Tac II).ĭive Bomber tree continues up to Improved Dive Bomber (equivalent of current CASII). Three basic bomber models: Tactical Bomber and Strategic Bomber (as now). Lower Hard and Soft Attack overall for reasons expressed below. One basic Fighter model: progresses more or less as the current multirole fighters do. Could it work? And is it a good idea? Comments welcome! Based on some thoughts people have been bashing around in the main forum I wonder how a 'fully-brigaded' air unit system would work. ![]()
